ELECTRIC HIGH – Free To Go

Electric High’s “Free To Go” arrives barely a year after their debut Colorful White Lies, yet it doesn’t feel rushed instead, it hits like lightning in a bottle. The album carries the raucous immediacy of a band that stepped into the studio before the adrenaline from last night’s rehearsal even wore off. There’s a sense of spontaneity layered into every riff, as if each track is a snapshot from a creative sprint rather than a calculated studio process. The result is a record that feels alive, pulsing with the raw instinct of musicians who trust their impulses more than polish.

What truly sets “Free To Go” apart is the volatile chemistry between its two lead vocalists, a dynamic that continues to be Electric High’s secret weapon. Their call-and-response swagger, doubled choruses, and gritty harmonies push each song into a kind of organized chaos. Behind them, the power-trio backbone drives with the tightness and force of classic hard rock, but with a modern bite. You hear flashes of Rival Sons’ bluesy edge and Royal Blood’s low-end menace, all of it crashing into an old-school Aerosmith sense of showmanship. It’s not imitation; it’s a collision, and Electric High leans into the sparks.

Across the album, the band navigates a range of moods without ever losing momentum. Tracks swing between high-octane alt-rock burners and heavier, groove-loaded cuts that show off their riff-craft. Even the more melodic moments keep a grit under the fingernails, maintaining that “written-yesterday, recorded-today” energy that defines the whole project. You can feel the speed of its creation not as a shortcut, but as the fuel driving its urgency.

“Free To Go” ultimately captures a band at full throttle, refusing to overthink and choosing instead to follow the current wherever it surges. It’s wild, immediate, and defiantly unpolished in the best possible way. If Colorful White Lies was the summing-up of Electric High’s early years, this album is the sound of their instinct taking over; louder, messier, fresher. Whether or not the band truly remembers forming during that blurry night in Bergen, Free To Go proves they’re very much here, and they’re not slowing down.
