The Season’s Back Again: A Timeless Christmas Tradition Reborn

When Meegan & Tobin announced they were bringing The Season’s Back Again back for the holidays, it honestly felt like hearing that a favorite old Christmas tradition was being dusted off and brought back to life. The moment the first track starts, there’s that familiar Abbey Road warmth—the soft strings, the cozy brass, the kind of sound that makes you want to put on slippers and settle into the couch. Jeff Meegan’s voice has this grounded, steady feeling to it, and David Tobin’s orchestral touch gives the songs a little sparkle without overdoing anything.

The guest singers really make the record shine too. Steve Memmolo and Lydia Harrell both bring a ton of warmth, and the group vocals from Jo Goldsmith-Eteson, Sara Brimer Davey, Kevin Fox, and Nick Girard feel like something out of an old holiday movie—rich, full, and genuinely comforting. Nothing on the album feels rushed or flashy. It’s the kind of music you put on while you’re pulling decorations out of storage or cooking something with cinnamon in it. It just fits into real life in a really natural way.

What gives the record a bit of extra heart are the stories behind it. Meegan talks about writing Christmas songs for his daughters and wife years ago, and you can hear that tenderness in the quieter moments. Tobin mentions how much he loves experiencing the season with his kids still being young enough to be amazed by everything and that shows up too, there’s this mix of nostalgia and excitement that runs through the whole album. It feels honest, not manufactured.

With their other holiday album Pretty Swingin’ Christmas still holding up as the more upbeat counterpart, and their newer project Keep On Movin’ getting GRAMMY attention, this re-release feels perfectly timed. The Season’s Back Again doesn’t try to reinvent anything but it just brings back the kind of warmth people look for in December. It feels like a tradition coming home again, simple as that.
