Ruben Dias and Maya Jama’s Home Targeted by Burglars While Couple Away on Work

Manchester City defender Rúben Dias and TV presenter Maya Jama have been left “devastated” after burglars targeted their £4 million luxury home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, while both were away on professional duties this week.

According to police and local media reports, the break-in took place on the evening of Wednesday, 28 January, when Dias was attending a Manchester City Champions League match against Galatasaray and Jama was in South Africa filming Love Island: All Stars. Shortly after 11:10 pm, Cheshire Police received a report of a burglary at the property and officers discovered signs of forced entry and a number of items stolen from inside.

When Dias returned home later that night, he found several rooms in the four-bedroom property had been ransacked. He called 999 and reported the incident to police, who have confirmed an investigation is underway.

Items taken are reported to include designer jewellery, electronics, clothing and personal belongings worth thousands of pounds. Despite the house being equipped with security systems and located in an affluent area sometimes referred to as Cheshire’s “Golden Triangle”, the burglars were still able to gain entry. Friends and sources tell media outlets that the couple — who only moved into the home together shortly before Christmas — are deeply upset that their personal space was violated, though they are grateful that neither was in the property at the time.

The incident is part of a wider trend of so-called “away day” burglaries, where the homes of high-profile footballers are targeted while they are playing in matches or otherwise away from home. Other Premier League players, including former Manchester City teammates, have previously experienced similar attacks. Cheshire Police have urged anyone with information about the burglary to come forward as enquiries continue.
