Hillary Clinton testifies she “had no idea” about Epstein’s crimes amid congressional probe

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has testified before the House Oversight Committee that she had “no idea” about the criminal activities of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, according to multiple U.S. media reports. The closed-door deposition took place this week as part of a broader congressional investigation into Epstein’s sex trafficking network and any potential connections to prominent public figures.

In her sworn testimony, Clinton said she did not recall ever meeting Epstein and had no knowledge of his crimes. She also stated that she was never involved in any investigations related to him during her time in public office. According to reports from outlets including Reuters and PBS NewsHour, Clinton maintained that she had no information that would assist investigators and reiterated that she had never traveled on Epstein’s private aircraft or visited his properties.

The deposition is part of a politically charged inquiry led by the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee. Lawmakers have said the investigation aims to better understand how Epstein operated his trafficking ring and whether powerful individuals were aware of or connected to his activities. Clinton’s appearance comes amid continued public scrutiny of Epstein’s relationships with high-profile political and business figures prior to his death in federal custody in 2019.

During and after the testimony, Clinton criticized what she described as attempts to politicize the investigation. She has called for transparency and urged that other figures with documented connections to Epstein also testify under oath. Congressional leaders have indicated that transcripts or recordings of the deposition may be released in the coming weeks.

Neither Hillary Clinton nor former President Bill Clinton has been accused of criminal wrongdoing in connection with Epstein’s case. The investigation remains ongoing as lawmakers continue to seek testimony and review documents related to Epstein’s associates and activities.
