Drawing inspiration from the vibrant world of Pulp Science Fiction, the artist has composed a song centred on the adventures of a bold cosmic traveller. The song’s basic foundation is Space Rock, with additions of Psychedelic Rock and Classic Rock elements, which gives the recording a retro science-fiction flavour that suits its imaginative theme.
The story centres on its main character as he journeys through space in a powerful spacecraft, fighting off extra-terrestrial dangers and space pirates while at the same time drawing a great deal of attention from women. Mason refers to the programme as being a bundle of fun, and this description reflects the playful nature of the concept. Instead of offering a realistic narrative, “Man Of The Universe” adopts the exaggerated potential of science fiction and establishes its identity on a character whose adventures clearly take place among the stars.
A standout aspect of the recording is Stuart Epps’s participation, since he not only produced the single but also played drums, bass and organ as well as providing backing vocals. In June 2026 Mason first contacted Epps with three demos and got favourable feedback before deciding to go with ‘Man Of The Universe’ for production. Epps has more than fifty years’ experience in the music industry and has previously worked with well-known artists such as Elton John, Oasis, George Harrison, Led Zeppelin and Robbie Williams.
This song continues a theme that was already seen in Mason’s work, particularly the science-fiction direction introduced in his earlier EP “5…4…3…2…1….” Since the artist works in a variety of genres using both acoustic and electric guitars as well as keyboards, this record represents a more focused aspect of his creative work. “Man Of The Universe” blends a deliberately imaginative story with a production carried out by an experienced studio engineer, producing a light-hearted space adventure that has a clear rock identity.
